The destination for an escape from the city and from everyday life can be offered by Lake Garda and the villages that surround it.
I spent two simple days on Lake Garda but in full relaxation and with complete physical and mental regeneration.
I stayed for the weekend of 8 December at the Hotel Eden in Valeggio sul Mincio, in a small and comfortable village where the typical dish is homemade tortellini. First of all, for lunch, in fact, I was delighted with a lunch of samples of tortellini Al Re del Tortellino – Il Ristorantino. In case you want to stock up on tortellini during the Christmas period, it is a good idea to book them as the local sellers have confided to me that they have a very long list of questions but the local craftswomen can not satisfy them all.
Delighted with lunch, the next destination was the thermal baths of Lake Garda, at the Villa dei Cedri in Colà.
These spas are very special: you enter from an arched entrance and walk through a large garden where you can see several lakes until you reach the Winter Garden. This structure recalls a Renaissance tea room where you can change inside, lockers, a bar and a self-service restaurant.
Outside, however, there is a large swimming pool that looks just like a natural pond, in which to dive and find different areas where the water is more and less hot.
I am a true lover of Spas, wellness centers and cuddles, as you could read in the article of the Terme dei Colli Isolani, and I am convinced that we all deserve moments for ourselves.
After regenerating the body, I opted for a dinner at the Restaurant Villa Moscardo near the estate and built in the walls of the villa. The thermal baths are in fact the hotel’s garden and a wellness centre.
The second day I visited Borghetto, which is actually a small village on the river Mincio but very characteristic, with mills and streams.
For the parking, just after the small bridge, you can find a parking lot where you can leave your car, otherwise there are several paid parking lots.
For lunch and afternoon, I decided to conclude this short trip out of town to Bardolino, watching the cradle of the waves of the lake.
I have parked in a paid parking near the center but with enthusiasm, I have seen that in the winter period it is free.
The walk along the lake is made pleasant by the Christmas markets, given the period, and a lunch of lake products to stay on the theme of the Restaurant Pizzeria la Porta.
After these days of relaxation, Call me Claire recommends a trip to Lake Garda to regenerate body and mind.
