BALI: HOW TO PLAN A TRAVEL

You want to plan a travel to Bali and you don’t know where to start? I was in the same situation.

The first question is: Are you sure you want to go to Bali?

When planning my summer holidays, I try to choose my destination according to the other trips I make, so that they vary both in the countries and in the type of trip. You can schedule by answering the following questions:

What am I looking for?

Beaches, relaxation, jungle, adventure, forest, ocean, temples, exotic food. Well, I think I’ll find it all.

When should I go?

Don’t underestimate the climate.

Especially in regions affected by monsoons. Who would have thought that geographical lessons would be used to plan holidays? Well yes. There are several sites that recommend based on the month the recommended destinations, or based on the country the month recommended. For the August travel, Bali is recommended as the monsoons are formed higher up, towards Thailand.

Check social conditions.

When traveling to certain countries it is always good to check if everything is ok from a political point of view. Nowadays, with terrorism, coups, demonstrations, it is better to be sure to return. Then also events such as earthquakes, tsunamis and fires.

Check health conditions

There are online sites to control the risk of diseases and vaccinations required. In Bali there are no necessary vaccinations but those for tetanus, hepatitis and typhoid are recommended. I booked a visit to a vaccine center in my city to be sure and I was vaccinated for missing reprimands and also for hepatitis A and typhoid (the latter in tablets).

In addition to vaccines, they gave me useful advice on how to manage the different diseases of the trip and especially the spray repellent for mosquitoes and insects! Better not to ruin your trip by thinking about it first. In addition to prevention, I also bought a health insurance policy for the days of stay to stay quiet (as for the trip to New York).

What’s the budget?

My idea of travel is: saving on the flight and where to sleep to be able to spend on visits and food. In this case, to my amazement, the cost of living is very low and therefore I can also be granted luxury accommodation. Also remember to book your flight tickets well in advance of your departure date because unfortunately the more you wait and the more you spend.

The combinations to get to Bali are different. I have chosen to leave from Venice with Qatar Airlines with stopover in Doha (5h) and then direct to Denpasar (8h). This was my choice for a total of 950€ (checked baggage). Otherwise you can take a flight to Singapore and then use an “internal” flight to Denpasar. In this case I would have taken advantage of staying a few days in Singapore but I have only 10 days available to Bali. It will be the excuse to return.

Which is the itinerary to choose?

In my travels I always try to make a “circle” itinerary, moving from accommodation to accommodation. The first step is to list all the things there are to see by collecting info from sites, experiences of friends and guides. All the places I separate them into zones and according to the amount of things to see I divide the days and nights.

For this trip in Bali the program is: 2 days in Seminyak, 3 days in Ubud, 2 days in Gili Trawangan Islands, 1 day in Candidasa. I also allowed myself two days in the Gili Islands recommended for honeymooners but I told myself, do I deserve a stay like this? Yes, we all deserve it and so I chose the most beautiful hotel. Let’s remember that the first person we love is ourselves.

What could be useful?

The luggage will be comfortable and practical for travel, a large backpack is the solution. Remember that it is also nice to buy something typical to dress so do not think about bringing every combination in the dress but to the space to buy on holiday. K-way for safety and a water bottle to avoid plastic if possible.

Well, for now I think I’ve thought about the main things. In the coming months I will continue to read about curiosities and events related to the period in which I go.

I hope I’ve inspired you and convinced you to come to Bali with Call me Claire.
